A holiday? These are interesting.

Right, then. This is the first Tday in many years that I am not spending with my created family, in fact I don’t even know where they are. Last year I was exceptionally ill on this day, within a month or so of dying. Thing was – no one knew it. It was one of those ‘undiagnosed for two years’ things nearing what would have been a natural end.

Well that got interrupted. My partner sat in her shrink’s office, going on about my behaviour (it was killing my body but also eating away at my brain if you know what I mean) and they came up with a diagnosis and a way to get diagnosed. It was exactly what I’d been jabbing at my doctor about forever, but you needed to run 3 tests simultaneously to ‘get it’ and he was more comfortable running the usual one test and saying all of my other symptoms were because of being a nutcase.

So, a year later from that Thanksgiving, I am headed out to my brother’s place: this is all new this year as well. His daughter, my most beloved niece, has moved across country with her Mom for her final year of high school and probably beyond that since her Mother wants to buy a house there. So, I’m going down to spend this day with my brother -the rock in my life, his son whom I love more than conceivable, and his ladyfriend who has a charming ten year old son. But how charming are ten year old boys after a couple hours?
